Winter lighting in the chicken coop winter’s extreme cold can certainly reduce egg production. but darkness is the main reason production begins to slow in late fall.. Adding a light bulb to keep the coop lit for 14 hours per day can increase egg laying, and prevent pullets from waiting to lay until spring..
